Creatures Wiki was originally hosted on WikiCities. WikiCities was eventually acquired by Wikia and the wiki moved to be hosted on their domain. [2]
On February 21, 2005, Creatures Wiki was the first Featured WikiCity. [3]
On May 17, 2007, creatureswiki.com was registered by Wikia. [4] The status of the domain was registered but no website.
In June 2008, the community was upset when they discovered that Wikia had bought the domain related to their wiki. [5] They were not notified of it, nor was the domain that Wikia had purchased pointing towards their wiki. They asked Wikia about it and were basically told that the domain would not be turned over to the community if the community should leave because you can't hand a domain over to a community. [6]

The wiki is hosted for free on Wikia. The wiki has always been hosted on free wiki services.

As of June 14, 2008, the wiki had 7,292 articles of which 2,983 were legitimate content pages. [7]
